Digital Nomads... Temporary Locals!
Phyl n' Jer's Next Grand Adventure (NGA)
Our decision to become digital nomads (a term we didn’t even knew existed at the time) was the result of evolutions brought about by our post pandemic world. Both of us had recently finished our respective collegiate degrees (Phyllis-her Doctorate in Business Coaching and Jerry-finally finishing his Bachelor of Sciences in Management with a concentration in Organizational Development). We were ready for a new adventure.
And, that adventure materialized for us. Like the rest of the world, the pandemic dramatically affected our lifestyle, both personally and professionally; Phyllis’ coaching
business has increased with clients booking zoom calls more than ever. Jerry has now adapted all his in-person leadership and organizational development programs to a virtual/hybrid platform. So, the Covid Crisis provided a
new opportunity for the both of us; we no longer needed to be tied to an office
or a conference room – we could serve our clients from anywhere on the planet as long as we had an internet connection and a Zoom account.
As Michael Wallis puts it in his Route 66 book, "Open-road travelers are made more than born. They are as different from theme-park tourists as anything you can imagine. Tourists rush; travelers mosey. Tourists look for souvenirs; travelers seek out the souvenir makers. Travelers are openly romantic about the going itself, the adventurous possibility of it all." We can honestly claim that we are now "Travelers" not "Tourists."
