Sittin' n' Seattle ~ realization of a stretch goal!

The last time we visited Seattle was 26 years ago as a stop over on our honeymoon sojourn to and through Alaska. We loved it and always said we'd like to return. A year ago, we decided to sell our home and most of our worldly possessions to become digital nomads, traveling the country, workin' n' playin' along the way for at least a couple years in search of a new nesting spot (translation - where we want to live next). We sold our home last fall and began the process of identifying house/pet sits throughout the country. As it happens, this series of sits has brought us back to Seattle - another goal realized!

As we've commented in earlier blogs, it was both a traumatic and liberating process... letting go of all the things and places that defined us for most of our life in order to be in a freer mental/emotional state of mind to explore & redefine ourselves as we enter the third quarter of the game of life (at least that's how we perceive it!).

It so happened that our arrival in West Seattle coincided with our 26th wedding anniversary which we celebrated at Salty's on Alki Beach. There, we lifted our glasses and toasted across the bay toward the Seattle Needle (where we dined 26 years ago on our honeymoon) and reflected on how far we had grown through the years.

Yes, we have had our share of trials and tribulations - and various battle scars to prove it!  And... now that we have achieved our stretch goal of reaching the northwest coastline - our world seems so much broader with possibilities that we could have ever imaged ~

Fortunately, we have a great hostess to share this all with. Ember is both a resilient and rambunctious young soul who reminds us every day that there are new things to explore and experiences to soak in on our our daily walks thru West Seattle. We're feeling quite blessed and filled with gratitude for the journey we're on.

“Oh, the places we'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won.” (for Dr. Seuss fans - you'll recall where these lines originate!)
