Tourin' n' Workin' in the Black Hills

Our current stay is literally nestled in the Black Hills of South Dakota and has provided us with a variety of new and expansive perspectives.  First, as a couple of native Chi-town city slickers, we generally haven't spent prolonged time above 700 feet - and now we're at an elevation of 4,200 feet. Exercising and even breathing has taken a few days to get used to. Second, our "tour guides" Sally and Penny are avid hikers, so every day we hit the trails for at least a couple hours! We could never have envisioned such a scenic workout room!

In addition to these loving dogs, we felt welcomed in a special way when there appeared  off the back deck the most amazing full circle double rainbow that painted an extraordinary scene, accompanied by an orchestra of birds singing their tunes from the surrounding trees - truly spectacular country!

As a working environment, we've not experienced a more tranquil and energizing "office"... whether its zooming with clients, preparing a new proposal, or writing a book - these surroundings with their natural peacefulness are hard to top.  We both feel truly emmeshed with nature in a vibrant and new way. No standard office will ever provide the lush views we get to see daily!

Candidly, it's been a bit challenging to focus on work projects when we have the Black Hills as an everyday backdrop. But, as digital nomads we're  beginning to realize that this is now our everyday lifestyle - how about that for a paradigm shift!

Hello Phyl 'n Jer!! So glad I found your blog! Ed and I are just passing through N.Dakota (yesterday & today)on our way back to WA! We've rented a house for a year beginning June 1st in Lynden, WA. So we flew back to Chgo, loaded up a 26' Penske truck with the "stuff" we had left after our big downsize last year and are now driving it back. Would love to connect & see you when you get to WA. xoxo & safe travels, Susan O!

Hi Sooz, I left you a message in messenger also! Seems we are kindred spirits, loving the adventure, just approaching it a bit differently. We'll arrive in Washington on the 18th and will be in that area through mid September. Would
l love for the 4 of us to get together if possible. Right now, we're in Colorado, exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. Hugs, Phyl
