Life is a highway... For Us to Dream, Explore, and Discover!

This week we launch into Phase 2 of our Next Grand Adventure (NGA!) as we begin our series of stops toward the Northwest Coast.  We will be house/pet setting along the way, crossing over the Rockies, with our short-term end goal of visiting the Redwoods along the Northern California seashore this fall.

As we've said before, the process of evolving into digital nomads has been a safari in and of itself. Letting go of our former life's treasures and baggage, in all it's forms... possessions, paradigms & perceptions - this process has not always been comfortable (although much easier when we have less to sort through!).

Friends, family, and colleagues have asked how we have been able to part with and/or modify those three p's. It's actually a paradox; we've discovered that in order to let go of the things that have defined us until now, we need to look away from those and instead, keep our focus on the adventures ahead - the highways of life that we are about to explore with the intention of  realizing dreamy landscapes and discovering new insights about ourselves and the world around us.

A phrase that we have kept top of mind; "A ship is safe in harbor, but that is not what ships are built for!" That concept may seem obvious, but on the nomadic seas we are sailing, we're discovering that there are squalls and unpredicted challenges as we leave the safe harbor of familiarity - a last minute car recall, an unexpected broken tooth. And there are also the unexpected joys of taking a break to dance the cha cha in the garage as we're packing up the Audi and sharing a bowl of our last homemade curry soup before we hit the road.  We're adjusting the sails and navigating through it all!

Some of the stops along our western path will include: Dubuque IA, Rapid City SD, Denver CO, Seattle WA, Port Angeles WA, Olympia WA,  Portland OR, and Crescent City CA. So, if we've passing through your neck of the woods, give us a holler and we'll do our best to stop and share a cup of coffee and trade tales with you from the highway of life we are all traversing!

Hi David! YES... the Sequoias are AWESOME in their grandeur and ancient vibes! We visited them a few years back on one of our westward walkabouts. This Fall we plan on visiting the Redwoods along the California coast!

All the best... Phyl n' Jer!
